Give Your Pet a Long, Healthy Life with Wellness Visits

Contact

You can drastically reduce your pet’s chances of developing a serious illness with regular wellness visits. Fighting advanced disease can be challenging unless your pet’s veterinarian helps you promote great health and detects warning signs in the early stages of illness.

Annual wellness visits are just as important for your pet as they are for you. Let’s get your furry family member scheduled for a wellness check to promote good health now and avoid disease later.

What Happens During a Wellness Visit?

When one of our veterinarians sees your pet for a wellness check, they will go through a number of routine examinations.

  • General Appearance:  Does the animal appear healthy?
  • Walking and Standing:  Is the gait pain-free and even?
  • Alertness:  Does he or she respond to sights and sounds?
  • Muscle Tone:  Is there any atrophy or asymmetry?
  • Coat:  Dryness, oiliness, dandruff, or excess shedding?
  • Skin:  Are there lumps, bumps, or thickening?
  • Eyes:  Discharge, redness, bumps, cloudiness, etc.?
  • Ears:  Is there any discharge, thickening, or odor?
  • Nose:  Discharge, breathing problems, asymmetry?
  • Teeth:  Tartar, periodontal disease, broken teeth?
  • Mouth:  Staining, excess salivation, ulcers, etc.?
  • Heart:  Abnormal rate/rhythm, murmurs, limb pulses?
  • Lungs:  Any increased or decreased breath sounds?
  • Lymph Nodes:  Is there any node swelling or pain?
  • Legs:  Is there lameness, nerve, or muscle problems?
  • Abdomen:  Kidneys, liver, intestines, spleen, stomach?
  • Feces:  Are any harmful parasites present? What type?
  • Blood:  CBC, thyroid levels, coagulation, biochemistry?
  • Urine:  Liver function, glucose levels, kidneys, bladder?

And after those general wellness checks are completed, the veterinarian may want to discuss exploratory or treatment procedures, such as…

  • Identification of Skin Problems
  • Allergy Skin Testing
  • Skin Biopsy
  • Nutritional Counseling
  • Customized Pain Management
  • Tailored Vaccinations Recommended Based on Lifestyle
  • Osteoarthritis Management
  • Individualized Flea Control
  • Behavioral Issue Guidance

That’s just the beginning of what Willow Animal Hospital can offer to your pet, to extend her life and make her more comfortable. Let’s discuss your furry family member’s well-being and how we can enhance that.
