A Simple Step for Your Pet's Health
Why Spay or Neuter Your Pet?
- Prevent Unwanted Litters: Spaying and neutering help reduce the number of unwanted pets, alleviating pressure on shelters and rescuers.
- Improve Health: Neutering can prevent certain cancers and conditions, while spaying can reduce the risk of uterine infections and breast cancer in females.
- Enhance Behavior: Spayed and neutered pets tend to be calmer, less aggressive, and are less likely to roam or mark territory.
- Prevent Overpopulation: By choosing to spay or neuter, you’re helping to reduce the number of homeless animals in your community.
What to Expect From the Procedure
At Willow Animal Hospital, we ensure that your pet is in caring, expert hands throughout the spay or neuter process. Before the surgery, our team will conduct a thorough examination to ensure your pet is healthy enough for the procedure. Once cleared, your pet will be given a safe anesthetic to ensure they are comfortable and pain-free throughout the procedure.
The surgery is performed with the utmost care and attention to your pet’s safety. After the procedure, your pet will be closely monitored in our hospital for several hours as they recover from anesthesia before being discharged later the same day. We’ll also follow up with you to check on your pet’s progress and ensure a smooth, healthy recovery.
Recovery and Aftercare
- Limit Activity: Keep your pet calm for the first 14 days post surgery to avoid stressing the incision site.
- Monitor for Infection: Keep an eye on the incision for any signs of swelling or redness. If you notice anything unusual, contact us immediately.
